    Lourdes Sanchez, a Cuban-born artist who was raised in Queens, NY and New Jersey, is a textile designer working in a hand-painted watercolor medium. Before setting up her own studio in 2004, she designed prints for the fashion industry for over 18 years. Sanchez's imagery is often based on the natural world, the longing and optimism of vintage prints, industrial detritus, ancient tribal patterning and random stains and markings. She currently lives and works in Gowanus, Brooklyn with a black Havanese, Moon Pie..
