Design lore has it that the Parsons Table was born and bred in Paris during the 1930s. Jean-Michel Frank, the famed French master of luxurious minimalism, challenged a class of design students to devise a pure, simple table that would retain its integrity regardless of finish. The initial design was called the T-Square Table and was distinguished by clean lines and square legs the same thickness as its top – an exacting equation that's endured for over 80 years. Whether interpreted as a console, desk, coffee table or bookshelf, west elm's take remains true to the original. The proportions are perfect. The lines are uncluttered. And its uses are seemingly endless. Simple design never goes out of style.
Our modern interpretation of the classic, clean-lined Parsons, now available in a variety of finishes that make it endlessly versatile.
