Our Brooklyn Collection exudes the class and culture of Brooklyn, NY. It has sofa designs with slim armrests, sleek definition and billowy back cushions. You can sit back and relax. Solid wood boomerang legs with an ash finish support this contemporary sofa. The legs are removable for ease in moving or redecorating. The 66.5-inch quaint loveseat and the 74-inch sofa in this collection have two seat and two back cushions each. The longer 81-inch sofa has three seat and three back cushions. Leather options in earth tone colors are available as well as a white tweed textured fabric.
A media or storage console would look fabulous behind this sofa, especially if the sofa is centered in a great room or placed diagonally away from a wall. Sliding doors and drawers give you lots of storage areas in the console. The surface of the cabinet is a good place to put a table lamp. The lamp placed just behind you is an ideal way to have light for reading, writing, watching TV and doing computer work on the sofa. A lamp with a slender stem and globe top would pair well with this sofa and console area. The asymmetrical lamp with two globes adds extra light. Or go for the balloon glass table lamp with a black or white marble base. We have some really cool, extraordinary table lamps at west elm to allow you to have plenty of choices in finding the right one for you and your home.
You could also put a vase of botanicals on the console table to add height. Rustic, ceramic and glazed are all viable options in a myriad of colors. Fill the vase or assorted vases grouped together with tall reeds, eucalyptus or corkscrew willow branches. These are all no maintenance so you won’t have to tend to them.
To create an area for conversation and company, add a chair or two in close proximity to the sofa. A chair with an angular back and arms with a leather seat would match your motif. The recliners are so comfy that guests may never want to leave. In fact they might fall asleep when they prop their feet up and recline backward. Slipper chairs are another option. They have a hippie vibe and would go well in this conversation spot.
Put a floor lamp by each of the chairs. No table in needed since they stand on their own. Arching floor lamps are suited to larger areas as they seem to reach out to illuminate. A slender lens lamp takes up little space, and the base can actually slip under the chair to be totally out of the way. The acrylic column floor lamp is a super addition to any room too and emits light through a retro white linen shade.
A rug on the floor will bring it all together. The rug provides a soft cushion for your feet, padding for walking around and a great spot for pups to nap or chew on bones. Choose a rug that is in your color scheme. Muted tones, bright prints and gypsy fringe are some of the features you will find in our rugs. Rectangular and circular shapes come in various sizes. Patterns in some of them actually look like artwork. We have Persian rugs, natural fiber ones and thick wool. Plush shag feels great on bare feet. We have distressed prints and abstract and so many more.
Enjoy your conversation area with friends and family. Entertain with cocktail parties and celebrate special occasions. You’ll be glad you created a hospitable area with comfort and stunning design.
