Designing your dream bathroom requires planning. Whether you’re starting from scratch or planning a remodel (for your bathroom or a kid's bathroom), deciding what kind of vanity you’ll use will set the foundation for the rest of the design. This piece of furniture is the focal point for your bathroom—after all, it’s where you likely start and end each day. We’ll go over how to choose a bathroom vanity based on your space, including different bathroom vanity sizes and some of our prized organization ideas.

Standard bathroom vanity sizes: Single sink bathroom vanity: 31.5"–32"w x 22"d x 36"h. Double sink bathroom vanity: 62"–63"w x 22"d x 36"h.

Standard Bathroom Vanity Sizes

There are two standard bathroom vanity sizes: single sink and double sink. While the specific measurements and features can vary depending on design, you’ll have the same basics across pieces.

Single Sink Bathroom Vanity

A single sink bathroom vanity is ideal for a small bathroom, like a half bath or guest bathroom. It can also work in a small primary bathroom or if you live alone. Our single vanities have just enough counter space around the sink for your essentials—toothbrush, makeup essentials and maybe a candle to keep things fresh.

Inside a single vanity, there’s plenty of extra storage. Whether you pick a vanity that has drawers or cabinet storage, you’ll find enough space for all of the essentials.

Our single sink bathroom vanity dimensions are 31.5"–32"w x 22"d x 36"h. The interior storage varies depending on the design, but we ensure every inch is optimized—from drawer space to perfectly placed shelving, you’ll be able to fit all the essentials.

Double Sink Bathroom Vanity

For larger shared bathrooms, we love a double vanity. This is ideal for a primary bathroom shared by a couple or even a kid’s bathroom shared by siblings. Everyone gets their own space with enough room in between the sinks for anything you share—like toothpaste and a basket of washcloths, to name a few.

How Do You Measure for a Bathroom Vanity?

When you’re shopping for a new vanity, so much of the process revolves around style: The cabinet material, the countertop style, whether you want drawers or cabinets, and the hardware. In addition, you’ll need to measure your space to ensure you pick the correct size. Here are the basics when it comes to measuring for your bathroom vanity:

  1. Take stock of your space. Are you replacing an old single or double vanity? Do you have creative freedom to pick your dream vanity? Understand where you’ll be putting your vanity, the general traffic flow of the space and how much counter space and storage you’ll want.

  2. Measure your space. Once you’ve decided whether you want a single or double vanity, take the following measurements:

Width: Measure the space from side to side. Be sure to take into account any elements that may impact this, like an opening shower door or water closet door.

Depth: Since our vanities are all 22" deep, you’ll just need to measure to ensure it will fit, whether you’re installing a single or double vanity.

Height: Finally, this one’s easy—all of our vanities are 36" tall, so you’ll just need to ensure you have enough clearance to fit your new vanity. This will also help you plan out where accessories will go, like your medicine cabinet.

  3. Make final adjustments: Once you have all of these measurements, keep in mind any wiggle room you’ll need. For example, if there are any outlets, switches or trims to account for, be sure you factor those in.
