Glassware and Coasters

Glassware and coasters are essential for any kitchen or dining room. Whether you are serving water, tea or wine, elegant glassware is ideal for serving with pizzazz. Choose from our large variety of shapes and designs at west elm to suit all types of beverages. Keep coasters around to protect the surfaces of your furniture.

Acrylic glassware is suited for outdoor entertaining. Use it on the patio, porch or deck, knowing it’s practically unbreakable. Make up a tasty batch of lemonade or sangria and pour it in an acrylic pitcher. Garnish with lemons and fresh mint in the lemonade. Add sliced apples, oranges and cherries in the sangria. Guests can serve themselves and go back for refills.

Stemless glassware is great for serving merlot or a Cabernet. Wine enthusiasts will love the way the glasses feel in their hands while they sip on a little libation. Replace corks with stunning bottle stoppers. The stoppers look festive in the wine bottles before serving. Remove them to let the wine breathe, but keep them out on the bar area for a touch of class. When it’s time to seal up any leftover wine, pop the stoppers back in the bottle until the next time you serve vino.

Glassware also works for hot beverages like coffee if you get the double wall glasses. Programmable coffee makers can be set ahead of time, so your coffee is ready when you want it. Pour brewed coffee or hot tea in the glassware for an exquisite way to serve them. Irish coffee is really good served in glass too. Top it off with some whipped cream for a real treat.

Serve Moscow Mules, a delicious concoction of ginger beer or ginger ale mixed with vodka or gin and a twist of lime. The copper finish holds in the cold and is gorgeous for entertaining. Your glassware selections can be personalized with a monogram too, which makes a wonderful gift. A bar cart is an easy way to serve cocktails. Wheels make it portable, so you can go inside or outside. Glasses, cocktail napkins, shakers, ice buckets and wine bottles fit neatly on the cart. Two shelves give lots of room for storage, so you can stock up and not have to run in the house for refills. You can add some appetizers to the carts to go with the beverages. Include a stack of coasters for guests to use. The coasters will catch any condensation before it hits your furniture. Slate, petrified wood and agate coasters are natural and earthy. Lava rock and linear gold coasters give off a contemporary vibe. Bright woven ones are a cheerful addition to any party.

Hang a kitchen tea towel on the handle of the bar cart or fold it neatly on one of the shelves. The towel will be convenient for wiping up any spills, but these designs are also fabulous. This is no ordinary selection, but one that stands out above the crowd. Go for a towel with a funky pattern or saying. Some have animal prints and others represent big cities around the world. They are practical to have, but can be conversation starters as well.

When the party is over and the evening is winding down, a copper drying rack will air dry the glassware and bar tools for you. Although the rack is certainly functional, it looks good sitting out by the sink or on the kitchen counter.

Being the hostess with the mostest is actually an easy task when you have the right tools and supplies. Your friends and neighbors will appreciate your hospitality and will definitely be back.
