How to Fold a Fitted Sheet: Video + 6 Easy Steps
A linen closet sorted with crisp, folded sheets is a beautiful sight, but first we need to know how to fold the sheets. If your fitted sheet refuses to be tamed, check out our video below and follow our simple step-by-step guide to learn exactly how to fold a fitted sheet.
Fold a Fitted Sheet in 6 Steps
Here's the easiest way to fold a fitted sheet to maximize your storage:
- Grab two adjacent corners. Holding the sheet inside out, place your hands inside two adjacent corners and spread the sheet out lengthwise.
- Tuck one corner into the other. Place the corner in one hand over the corner in your other hand. The corner on top will now be right side out.
- Flip the sheet over and repeat the first two steps. Hold the other two corners in your hands, then place one corner over the other.
- Place one tucked corner over the other. With your hands in both tucked corners, place one hand over the other so that all four corners are tucked around one hand.
- Set the sheet down and straighten the edges. As you set the sheet down, it will look like a rectangle after you straighten the sides out.
- Fold in half as many times as you'd like. Keep folding the sheet in half until it reaches the desired size. If you want, you can store the sheet in a pillow case.
That's all it takes! With practice, you'll be a master folder with a meticulously organized linen closet.
Bedding Storage Tips
Once you've mastered folding a fitted sheet, you can tame your linen closet, making it a functional and beautiful space.
Follow these five tips for optimal bedding storage:
- Place this season's sheets at eye level. If you have a mix of warm flannel, breathable linen and crisp percale sheets, make sure the ones you need now are easy to spot.
- Keep sheet sets in pillowcases. Finding matching sets can be difficult, but when you keep everything inside of a pillowcase, you know it will stay together.
- Organize by color, size or room. Figure out the best organizational technique for your household: color, size or room are great places to start.
- Give everything enough space. Avoid shoving too many linens on one shelf, a little room to breathe will keep items fresh and unwrinkled.
- Use clever containers. Baskets, dividers or other containers can help you conveniently separate bedding, towels and other linens in your closet.
With a carefully organized linen closet, you'll be ready to upgrade your bedroom by giving your bed a stylish new look with different layers, textures and colors.
