Home Transformation

A Young Family's Light + Open Home

Location:

A 1980s House In Portland, Oregon

The Team:

Shelby Towell, Designer

Michelle Gonzales, Installer

Client:

Sara Shepard, Homeowner

The Challenge:

Dark wood ceilings, beams and floors.
Plus, how to make it family friendly.

The Solution:

Lighten the room with a large rug, while also creating more space for baby to crawl around thanks to an easy–to–move coffee table.

How It Came Together

Sarah wanted the
space to feel light
+ open despite
the dark beams +
floors."

— Shelby Towell, Designer

Shelby added texture +
baby–friendly softness
as well as rounded coffee
+ side tables (no sharp
corners!).
