We love the classic and clean look of a duvet cover, but we know how annoying it can be to put it on correctly. Stuffing your duvet into its cover doesn't have to mean getting tangled. Thankfully, we have a couple go-to methods for how to put on a duvet cover to make things easier.
Traditional Method
Easy and straightforward, the traditional method of how to put on a duvet cover is a great idea for any bedding size. Check out the video and our step-by-step instructions below
Turn your duvet cover inside out and lay it out on your bed.
Spread out your duvet insert on top of the cover.
Tie the duvet insert to the cover at each corner.
From the open end of the duvet cover, reach in and grab the corners at the closed end.
Pull the corners from the inside out to flip the insert and put the cover on.
Button up the opening of the duvet cover.
Give the cover and insert a good shake and fluff, and voila! You're done.
If you prefer, you can follow the first two steps but only tie off the two corners at the closed end of the cover. You can reach in as you would in step four to flip the cover over the whole insert. Then close and fluff as usual! This may be easier if you're putting on a twin duvet.
Sushi Roll Method
The sushi roll method is another easy way to put on a duvet cover. This method starts out similarly to the traditional method, but it may be easier for you if you're working with a King duvet.
Turn your duvet cover inside out, just like you would with the traditional method.
Lay it on the bed, with the opening of the duvet cover at the foot of the bed.
Spread out your duvet insert on top of the cover.
Tie the duvet insert to the cover at each corner.
Starting at the head of the bed, roll the two layers together—just like you're making a sushi roll!
When you get to the open end at the bottom, reach in to grab each corner and turn them inside out.
Button up the opening, enclosing the roll.
Now start unrolling...
And give it a little shake to fluff up the insert!
There you have it! Learning how to put on a duvet cover doesn't have to be stressful with these two tricks. Try out both methods and decide which one is easier for you. Once you have it down, you'll be ready to style your bedroom like a pro.
